OUR COMPANY

Welcome to L'Oréal South Africa's
official web site

L’Oréal South Africa was established in 1963. The company has five divisions: L’Oréal Manufacturing Midrand (our manufacturing plant) and four operating divisions, namely Professional Products Division, L’Oreal Luxe, Active Cosmetics Division and the Consumer Products Division.

L’Oréal South Africa employs more than 500 people in South Africa, which is regarded as the group’s gateway to the African continent. The Professional Products division has established a strong position in the market through its brands L’Oréal Professionnel, Kérastase, Redken, Mizani and Matrix. The division’s focus is to develop the salon industry through sizeable investments in technical training and promotional events.

L’Oreal Luxe has been developed using a carefully targeted strategy for its brands, which comprise Lancôme, Giorgio Armani Perfumes, Ralph Lauren, Cacharel, Victor and Rolf, Diesel, Kiehl's and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. Product distribution is channelled through selected outlets.

The Active Cosmetics division has two leading brands in South Africa, Vichy and Skinceuticals. Vichy is a historic brand that promotes skin health and beauty. Since its creation by a doctor in 1931, Vichy has met the beauty needs of women all over the world, regardless of their age or skin type, through care products that immediately and lastingly transform even sensitive skin. SkinCeuticals, which was introduced to the South African market in 2012, provides complete skincare solutions through dermatologists, plastic surgeons and other skincare professionals. Founded in 1997, Skinceuticals develops innovative dermatology products designed to combat the signs of aging and help prevent serious skin conditions.

The Consumer Products division focuses on the mass market categories of hair colour, skin care, styling and make-up with its brands L’Oréal Paris, Garnier, Maybelline and SoftSheen-Carson. The division’s development strategy is based on its technological expertise and innovation.

Our manufacturing plant, located in Midrand, is responsible for the production of Softsheen-Carson hair care and toiletry products which are exported throughout Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The plant also manufactures Garnier deodorants for the local market.

The plant, combined with our state-of-the-art, 15 000 ft² distribution centre in Centurion, constitutes an essential tool of the company’s development.
